The ideal candidate should be comfortable in a fast-paced, agile development environment and have experience with server and front end technologies building interactive web-based maps engaging the Adobe Flex framework with the use of ActionScript. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about learning new web technologies, is excited about working closely with a small group of developers, enjoys taking ownership of their work and wants to help us design new software solutions.

The candidate must possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written.  This position may include collaborating with remote peers and reporting to a project leader on multiple projects.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Designing, coding, testing and deploying software products in an agile development environment
• Performing customer requirements analysis while working closely with the product team
• Performing rapid prototyping on an ongoing basis
• Producing mappings of requirements into technical design

The candidate must have extensive experience with:

• Web Application Development using Adobe Flex with ActionScript (knowledge of Silverlight / XAML a plus)
• Creating visually compelling Flash/Flex/Silverlight-based UIs
• JSON, XML, DOM parsing models and XSLT transformations
• JavaScript, jQuery/Dojo, CSS, HTML5 and AJAX technologies
• Source code version control (hg, svn, git or other)

The candidate must have some familiarity with:

• Server-side application frameworks including .NET, Python and Perl
• Developing enterprise and scalable web applications
• Test-driven development (TDD) and automated unit testing tools
• Object oriented languages and methodologies (OOD/OOP)
• ESRI suite of products (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, ArcSDE, ArcObjects) – a plus, but not required

Education:

This position requires a B.S. or B.A. in Computer Science or Software Engineering or comparable work experience.

• Windows server environment
• Performance tuning of ArcGIS Server
• PostgreSQL RDBMS
• Map services (KML, WMS, WFS, GML)
• Web-based viewer technologies (Google Earth/Maps, ESRI JavaScript API, Web Services)
• IIS web server and application server development including some knowledge of ASP.NET
• Developing enterprise and scalable web applications
• JavaScript, jQuery/Dojo, CSS, HTML5 and AJAX technologies
• Test-driven development (TDD) and automated unit testing tools
• Object oriented languages and methodologies (OOD/OOP)
• GIS concepts
